CAUTION: To avoid bodily injury or machine damage whenever an implement is attached, put transmission in PARK position and check the full range of hitch for interference, binding, or PTO separation.

Do not stand between tractor and implement.

NOTE: John Deere 5000 series tractor shown throughout procedure as reference only. Your tractor controls and features may be different. See your tractor Operator's Manual.

  1. Place draft control lever fully forward to the position marked "OFF" (A) for no draft sensing.

    IMPORTANT: Contacting mower hitch pins with the latch handles in the locked position may result in damage to the latch mechanism.

  2. Pull up on quick coupler latch handles (B).

    C - Hitch control lever

    Lower hitch by pulling hitch control lever (C) until quick coupler hooks are lower than mower hitch pins.



  4. Back up tractor to mower hitch.

  5. Raise hitch high enough to engage mower hitch pins in hooks.

  6. Engage tractor parking brake and/or place transmission in “Park”.

  7. Shut off tractor engine and remove key.

  8. Push quick coupler latch handles (B) down to lock mower to quick coupler hitch.

    Attach PTO driveline (See procedures in this section).



  10. Start tractor engine.

  11. Slowly pull hitch control lever (C) to raise mower. Check for interference. Lower mower to ground and adjust if necessary.
