Coolant Draining and Change

Service Interval - 3000 Hours or 3 Years

 

causym CAUTION: Remove caps only when coolant temperature is below boiling point. First loosen black cap (A) to relieve pressure, then green cap (B) completely.

NOTE: If COOL-GARD is not used, service interval is reduced to 2000 hours or 2 years.

1. Turn heater control clockwise as far as it will go.

2. Loosen and remove cap (A).

3. Turn connect/disconnect control (C) counterclockwise as far as it will go.

4. Place container under drains to catch coolant. Open drain cock (D).

5. As soon as system is empty, close drain cock and fill system with clean water.

6. Start engine again and run until it reaches operating temperature. Shut engine off and drain system again.

7. Close drain cock again and fill system with clean water.

IMPORTANT: Never pour cold water or coolant into a hot engine. Always use warm water or wait until engine has cooled down.

8. Run engine again until it has reached operating temperature. Shut engine off and drain system again.

9. Take off thermostat housing (F) and clean sealing surface. Apply sealant to new gasket. Install gasket and thermostat housing. Tighten screws to specification.

10. Close drain cock again. This time fill system with specified coolant. (See FUEL, LUBRICANTS AND COOLANT section.)
