Front Tire Load Index and Minimum Rear Ballast Requirements
5025 Series, 5E Limited Series, 5M Series, 5078E,
and 5085E Tractors
Prevent possible injury or death from a machine rollover.
Add the required amount of ballast to the tractor. The amount of ballast
listed is the minimum required for normal loader operation. For some
operations, add additional ballast to maximize stability.
Tires are approved on their rated load capacity.
Tires of similar size with equal or greater load rating can be used.

Ballast
Ballasting is based on the american society of agricultural
and biological engineers (ASABE) lift capacity and recommended tread
setting.
-
A minimum rear tread setting of 1675 mm (66 in) is recommended.
Ballast listed is based on this tread setting.
-
Some tractor and loader combinations result in high front axle
loads. 3-point hitch ballast is required as noted.
Tire Rating
-
Tire loading is based on the ASABE lift capacity and recommended
ballasting.
-
Minimum tire load index is recommended for:
-
Heavy-duty loader use:3 Minimum recommended tire rating based on the higher
of:
-
Tire rating for transport speeds up to 40 km/h (24 mph) (speed
rating A8) with an EMPTY loader (some tires may have lower speed rating)
-
Tire rating for standard load and carry operations based on
speeds up to 5 km/h (3 mph) and short distances up to 0.6 km (0.3
miles).
-
Regular-duty loader use: (any use not classified above as heavy
duty and no transport at maximum travel speeds): Tire rating for load
and carry operations with weighted factor applied to reduce loaded
rating to reflect smaller percentage of time actually carrying full
or partial loads at slow speeds, up to 10 km/h (6.2 mph), and short
distances up to 0.6 km (0.3 miles).
-
Inflate tires to tire manufacturer’s recommendations.
|
1 IMPORTANT: To prevent tractor damage during
loader operation, use hitch ballast.
2 NOTE: Must have total weight of 465 kg (1025
lb) per tire.
3 When main
use of loader is handling manure, silage, high loads, or digging.
