Lubricating and Maintaining Machine Safely

CAUTION: Help prevent bodily injury or death caused by entanglement in rotating driveline or blades. Entanglement in rotating driveline or being struck by blades can cause serious injury or death.

Components will be hot after operation. Let all components cool before servicing.

To help prevent personal injury caused by unexpected movement, be sure to service machine on a level surface.

The blades and blade holder may rotate for several minutes after PTO is shut off. Look and listen for rotating driveline to stop before working on the cutter.

When checking gear case hardware torque and blade holder hardware torque, it will be necessary to work underneath cutter. Be sure to support cutter frame at all four corner locations with safety shop stands to prevent accidental lowering. Do not position safety stands under wheel support because these components can rotate.

After servicing is complete, replace all shielding that was removed for access to service parts.

Before servicing, adjusting or lubricating machine connected to a tractor:
1. Park machine on a hard level surface.
2. Engage tractor parking brake and/or place transmission in PARK.
3. Disengage PTO and shut off tractor engine.
4. Wait until all moving parts have stopped.
5. Place safety stands under cutter at all four corner locations, NOT under tailwheel support.
6. Start tractor engine, if necessary, and lower machine onto stands.
7. Shut off tractor engine and remove key.
8. Disconnect PTO driveline from tractor.
