Service Loader and Tractor Safely (Loader Attached)

Normally, the engine compartment and the front of the tractor can be accessed with the bucket flat on the ground. However, due to tractor size and tire variations, servicing the tractor or loader can require the loader to be elevated.

Depending on the loader and attachment configuration, do one of the following:

  • If servicing the tractor or the loader requires the loader to be elevated, perform the following:
    1. CAUTION:

      W00278
      W00278-UN-04DEC91

      W24291
      W24291-UN-10FEB14

A - Handle, Shut Off Valve

Prevent bodily injury or death from accidental lowering of the loader. DO NOT perform service around the front of tractor with loader elevated unless the shutoff valve is closed, locking the loader into an elevated position.

The shutoff valve is not to be used alone to lock the loader in the elevated position for servicing the tractor. Support the loader with floor stands, or lifting straps, or chains connected to an overhead hoist.

NOTE: The shutoff valve is on the loader half of the multicoupler on the right-hand side of the loader.
Raise the loader to the desired height and support the elevated loader with floor stands, or lifting straps, or chains connected to an overhead hoist.
    2. Place transmission in PARK.
    3. Shut off engine and remove ignition key.
    4. Turn valve handle (A) clockwise to lock the loader in the elevated position.
  • If the loader is not required to be elevated for servicing the tractor or loader, perform the following:
    1. CAUTION:

      W24292
      W24292-UN-23SEP13

Prevent bodily injury or death from accidental lowering of the loader. DO NOT perform service around the front of tractor unless the loader is safely secured.

      Place transmission in PARK.
    2. Roll back the bucket until the front edge is facing the ground.
    3. Relieve hydraulic pressure. (See Relieve Hydraulic Pressure in Controls section.)
