    A - Latch Pin (1 each side)

Prevent bodily injury or death from a falling bucket or attachment. DO NOT operate the loader without making sure that latch pins (A) are engaged with the bucket or attachment. Failure to engage pins causes the bucket or attachment to detach from the loader.

Check pin engagement with the bucket:

    1. Position loader approximately 300 mm (12 in) from the ground and extend the bucket cylinders until the front edge of the bucket contacts the ground.

    2. Continue to apply pressure against the ground verifying pins (A) are engaged with the bucket.

  10. CAUTION:

    X9811-UN-23AUG88

Escaping fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin causing serious injury. Avoid the hazard by relieving pressure before connecting hydraulic or other lines. Protect hands and body from high-pressure fluids. See additional information, Avoid High-Pressure Fluids in Safety section.

Level bucket and lower flat on the ground.

  11. Relieve hydraulic pressure. (See Relieve Hydraulic Pressure in Controls section.)

    C - Coupler, Loader

    D - Red Knob

    E - Coupler, Attachment

    F - Pins

    G - Holes

    H - Pin (1 each side)

If equipped with a hydraulic-operated attachment, such as a grapple, connect the hydraulics as follows:

    Multicoupler configuration:

    1. Raise multicoupler cover (B).

    2. Push in red knob (D) and rotate lever (A) upward, as shown.

    3. IMPORTANT: Prevent coupler damage. Multicoupler halves must be aligned properly.

Insert attachment coupler half (E) into loader coupler (C). Make sure that locating pins (F) on the attachment coupler fit into the corresponding holes (G) in the loader coupler.

    4. Rotate lever (A) downward to engage pins (H) and lock the coupler halves together.

  13. NOTE: Hose connections are identified by matching the color-coded cap on the hose end with the same color-coded plug on the hydraulic lines:

    • (A) Attachment Cylinder—Rod End (Green)
    • (B) Attachment Cylinder—Head End (Orange)

    A - Plugs

    B - Coupler, Male

    C - Coupler, Female

    Quick coupler configuration:

    1. Remove plugs (A) from the female couplers.

    2. Push and hold collar on coupler (C).

    3. Insert hydraulic hose connector (B) into the coupler.

    4. Release collar on the coupler.

    5. Repeat steps for the remaining couplers (B) and hose connectors (C).

    6. Connect color-coded caps and plugs together.

500-Style Carrier

Extend bucket cylinders to position carrier (B) forward.

  2. Align tops of the carrier with hooks (A).

  3. Raise loader until the carrier engages the hooks, then retract the bucket cylinders until the bucket rests against the carrier.

  4. CAUTION: Prevent bodily injury. Make sure that the bucket or attachment is properly secured to the carrier.

Raise loader and check that carrier straps (E) engage bucket pins (F) on both sides.

  5. Place transmission in PARK and shut off engine.

  6. Remove quick lock pins (D) from storage position (C).

    Tilt Bucket or Attachment Forward

    A - Latch Handles

    B - Lock Pin (1 each side)

    C - Lip

    D - Latches

Prevent bodily injury. DO NOT allow bystanders near the loader while attaching the bucket or attachment. Allow only the tractor operator to attach the bucket or attachment.

IMPORTANT: Prevent possible machine damage. Make sure that both latch handles (A) are up and lock pins (B) are retracted.

NOTE: Procedure is the same for all attachments. Bucket attachment shown.

Raise both latch handles (A) into the UP (unlatched) position.

  2. Raise loader off the ground.

  3. Extend bucket cylinders to position the carrier forward.

  4. Drive forward and raise the loader until the carrier plates are positioned under lip (C) on the bucket. Retract bucket cylinders until the bucket rests against the carrier.

NOTE: Bucket must rest against the carrier plates.

  5. Lower loader to the ground and shut off engine.

  6. Lower latch handles (A) to engage pins (B) with latches (D) on the bucket.

  7. CAUTION: Prevent bodily injury. Make sure that the bucket or attachment is properly secured to the carrier.

Extend bucket cylinders to apply pressure against the ground to verify that pins (B) are engaged in latches (D) of the bucket.

NOTE: If the bucket or attachment is not securely attached to the skid steer carrier, repeat the attaching steps.
