Attach Loader (300R and 320R Loaders)

  1. W28201
    W28201-UN-25JUL17

Drive the tractor slowly, straight into the loader.

  2. Align the loader masts with mounting frames.

  3. Engage the park brake and place the transmission in PARK.

  4. Shut off engine and remove ignition key.

Escaping fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin, causing serious injury. Avoid the hazard by relieving pressure before disconnecting hydraulic or other lines. Protect hands and body from high-pressure fluids. (See additional information, Avoid High-Pressure Fluids, in Safety section.)

Relieve the hydraulic pressure. (See Relieve Hydraulic Pressure in Controls section.)

  6. Prevent possible injury caused by an unexpected loader movement. The anticipated loader movement responds to the control lever only if the hoses are connected correctly.

Hose connections are identified by matching the color-coded cap on the hose end with the same color-coded plug on the control valve coupler. If caps are missing, see Identifying Hose Connections in Service section.

    A - Drag Link

Avoid hydraulic hose damage. Route the hoses correctly to avoid interference with the tractor drag link.

300R Loader on an 870 tractor and 320R loader on a 970 tractor with a drag link:

    1. Route the hoses on each side of the drag link (A).

    2. Turn the steering wheel from side-to-side to be sure that there is no interference with the drag link.

  7. It can be necessary to drive the tractor forward slowly to keep the masts/frames in-line while performing the following procedures.

    A - Mast

    B - End Plate

Be sure that end plates (B) on each mounting frame are aligned with the inside guide of each mast (A).

  8. Start the engine.

  9. Release the park brake and place the transmission in NEUTRAL.

  10. Make sure that masts are fully seated on frame tubes.

    B - Parking Stand

    C - Mast (1 each side)

Slowly retract lift cylinders. Mast (C) lowers onto mounting frames and parking stand (B) raises to the front weight bracket (A).

  11. Dump the bucket 10°—20°.

  12. Retract lift cylinders raising the front wheels 25—50 mm (1—2 in) off the ground. (Do not retract lift cylinders completely.)

    C - Bottom Bar

    D - 25 mm (1 in) Dimension

Make sure that there is no dirt or debris between the bottom of the front weight bracket (B) and bottom bar (C) of the parking stand. Make sure that the top bar (A) of the parking stand rests on the top of the front weight bracket with at least 25 mm (1 in) (D) of engagement.

All except 4105 tractor: Check that the bottom bar (C) of the parking stand is securely hooked against the bottom of the front weight bracket (B).

  14. Check that the top bar (A) rests on the top of the front weight bracket with the engagement within specification. If engagement is not within specification (see Checking Parking Stand/Weight Bracket Engagement in Service section).

Make sure that the latch (B) is fully seated against the brace pad (E) and that latch pin (C) is engaged with the leaf spring (D). Repeat on the opposite side.

Place the latch (B) on both sides of the loader in the LOCKED position. Pull rearward on the handle to engage the latch pin (C) with the leaf spring (D). Cap screw (A) must contact the mast pad (F). If not (see Checking Parking Latch Cap Screw Adjustment procedure in Every 50 Hours of Lubrication and Maintenance section).

    A - Hose Bundle

    B - Hose Support

    C - Parking Stand

    D - Spring Pin

Make sure that the hose bundle (A) is routed to avoid contact with the tractor. If the hose support (B) (if equipped) was previously detached from the parking stand (C), reinstall, using the spring pin (D).

  17. To ensure that the loader is properly mounted, extend lift cylinders and lift the bucket from the ground.

  18. Install the ballast box. (See Prepare the Tractor section.)

  19. Engage the park brake and place the transmission in PARK.

  20. Shut off engine and remove ignition key.
