Preoperation Checks (440R Loader)

    Escaping fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin, causing serious injury. Avoid the hazard by relieving pressure before disconnecting hydraulic or other lines. Protect hands and body from high-pressure fluids. (See additional information, Avoid High-Pressure Fluids, in Safety section.)

    Check for loose hydraulic fittings.



  2. Hydraulic hoses can fail due to physical damage, kinks, age, and exposure. Check hoses regularly. Replace damaged hoses.

  3. Check for hydraulic oil leaks. (See Tighten Hydraulic Fittings and Hoses in Service section.)

    Check for missing or loose hardware (A). (See Every 50 Hours in Lubrication and Maintenance section.)



  5. Check the tractor transmission/hydraulic oil level. See the tractor Operator's Manual for more information.
