Replacing Fan Belt

NOTE: Fan drive belt is equipped with an automatic tensioner which does not require adjustment.

1. Loosen oil fill hose clamp (A) at engine.

2. Remove four hex socket head cap screws (B) and remove oil fill assembly (C).

3. Remove hex socket head cap screw (B) from bottom of guard.

4. Remove two cap screws (A) retaining right-side guard to radiator and remove guard.

5. Remove hex socket head cap screw (C) from bottom of left-side guard.

6. Remove cap screw (B) from guard support bracket at engine.

7. Remove two cap screws (A) retaining left-side guard to radiator and remove guard.

8. Using a 3/8 in. drive breaker bar inserted in square hole (B) of tensioner, push tensioner in towards engine and release tension on fan belt (A). Remove fan belt from alternator pulley.

9. Release tension on tensioner and remove breaker bar.

10. Remove belt.

11. Install new belt in reverse order of removal.

NOTE: Fan drive belt is equipped with an automatic tensioner which does not require adjustment.

IMPORTANT: Cab Tractors: DO NOT remove belt guard fastened to A/C compressor. Compressor will be loose if cap screws are removed.

1. Remove hex socket head cap screw, washer and flanged nut (A) from right-side guard brace.

2. Remove hex socket head cap screw (C) from bottom of guard.

3. Remove two cap screws (B) retaining guard to radiator. Remove right-side guard.

4. Remove hex socket head cap screw, washer and flanged nut (B) from left-side guard brace.

5. Remove hex socket head cap screw (C) from bottom of guard.

6. Remove two cap screws (B) retaining guard to radiator. Remove left-side guard.

7. Loosen right-side cap screw (A).

8. Remove left-side cap screw (B).

9. Swing damper guard (C) forward away from damper.

10. Release tension on belt using a long-handle 1/2 in. drive breaker bar (B) to pull tensioner away from engine.

Remove belt (A) from alternator pulley.

11. Release tension on tensioner and remove breaker bar.

12. Remove belt.

13. Install new belt in reverse order of removal.
