Changing Engine Oil and Filter-5425, 5525 and 5625

SERVICE INTERVAL
  INITIAL - 100 HOURS Maximum
  REGULAR-300 HOURS Can be extended to 450 Hours if John DeerePLUS-50™ oil and John Deere filter are used.

 

IMPORTANT: During the first 100 hours of operation, fill with John Deere DIESEL ENGINE BREAK-IN OIL. (See section 75 Fuel, Lubricants, and Coolant for oil specifications.)

If diesel fuel has a high sulfur content, refer to DIESEL ENGINE OIL in section 75 Fuel, Lubricants, and Coolant.

1. Operate engine to warm oil.

2. Park tractor on level ground, place transmission in park, turn off engine and remove key. Raise hood.

3. Remove oil drain plug (A) and drain oil.

4. Remove engine oil filter (B).

NOTE: Make sure old filter gasket is completely removed from manifold before installing new filter.

5. Apply a film of oil on new oil filter gasket and install new filter. Hand-tighten plus 1/2 turn.

6. Install drain plug.

7. Add oil to filler (C).

Specification

Engine Crankcase Oil -Capacity 8.5 L (9 qt)

8. Start engine and check for leaks.

9. Stop engine and remove key. Recheck oil level.

10. Lower hood.
