Brake Control Unit (BRC) Diagnostic Trouble Codes

Although the diagnostic codes listed below are not a complete list of the diagnostic trouble codes, they do reflect codes which may be observed while operating the tractor and have corrective action that the operator can take. Many codes which appear may be corrected simply by cycling key switch or by following the solution on the CommandCenter™ page, then cycling key switch.

If corrective action cannot be taken after cycling power to the tractor or if there are any questions, contact your John Deere™ dealer.

BRC 158.4	Brake System Derated	Reduce electrical load or increase engine RPM to attempt vehicle system recovery.
BRC 168.4	Brake System Derated	Reduce electrical load or increase engine RPM. Shut down the engine and check fuse. Restart engine to attempt vehicle system recovery.
BRC 2602.18	Brake System Derated	Limit hydraulic use to allow oil reservoir to refill. Check oil level according to Operator's Manual procedure.
BRC 522280.0	Secondary Brake System High	Put vehicle in Park with engine running and cycle secondary brake lever. Restart engine to attempt vehicle system recovery.
BRC 522280.1	Secondary Brake System Low	Put vehicle in Park with engine running and cycle secondary brake lever. Restart engine to attempt vehicle system recovery.
BRC 522281.5	Front Brake System Derated	Reduce electrical load or increase engine RPM to attempt vehicle system recovery.
BRC 523787.4	Brake System	Reduce electrical load or increase engine RPM. Shut down the engine and check fuse.
BRC 523839.19	Secondary Brake System Derated	Put vehicle in Park with engine running and cycle secondary brake lever. Restart engine to attempt vehicle system recovery.
BRC 523841.19	Secondary Brake System Derated	Return to Park. Cycle secondary brake lever. Restart engine to attempt vehicle system recovery.
BRC 524016.4	Brake System Inoperable	Reduce electrical load or increase engine RPM. Shut down the engine and check fuse. Restart engine to attempt vehicle system recovery.
