Break-In ChecksNOTE: The initial break-in service interval of a new or rebuilt wet sleeve engine with Break-In Plus must go at least 100 hours to assure the surface mating of the rings and liners has had an opportunity to occur. The 100 hour minimum applies to all new or rebuilt engines. The maximum service interval is the same as the service interval recommendations listed in Engine Oil and Filter Service Intervals for your engine. To confirm which engine your tractor is equipped with, see Identification Numbers Section - Record Engine Serial Number in this Operator’s Manual. For subsequent oil changes, see Engine Oil and Filter Service Intervals for your engine located in the Fuels, Lubricants, and Coolant Section of this Operator’s Manual. Engine is ready for normal operation. Tighten wheel and axle bolts after 3 HOURS, and after 10 HOURS, and DAILY for the first week of operation. Check for leaks. Operate engine at heavy loads without sustained maximum load. Avoid idling engine longer than 5 minutes. Closely observe coolant temperature during operation. Check air intake system hoses and clamps.
Daily or Every 10 HoursIMPORTANT: John Deere Break-In Plus oil must be added if oil level is BELOW ADD MARK on dipstick. DO NOT fill above crosshatch pattern or FULL mark. - Check engine oil level
- Check coolant level
- Check transmission-hydraulic oil level
- Lubricate front axle:
- Standard front axle: Pivot pin, wheel bearings, steering spindles/cylinder ends, and tie rod ends
- MFWD: Axle pivot, king pins, and tie rod
- Front axle with TLS Plus: Axle pivot, king pins, cylinders, rear bearing support, seal barrier and tie rod
- Lubricate hitch components
- Inspect tires to make sure that tires have no cuts or punctures
- Drain moisture from the trailer air brake accumulator (If Equipped)
- Lubricate front PTO shaft (If Equipped)
At 100 Hours- Change front PTO oil filter (If Equipped)
