A - Hood Release Loop

B - De-aeration Tank Cap

  1. CAUTION: Explosive release of fluids from pressurized cooling system can cause serious burns.

Shut off engine. Only remove cap when cool enough to touch with bare hands. Slowly loosen cap to first stop to relieve pressure before removing completely.

Pull hood release (A) and raise hood.

  2. Slowly turn de-aeration tank cap (B) to relieve pressure. Remove cap.

IMPORTANT: Do not open de-aeration tank cap (B) when engine is warm. Doing so will add air to coolant system.

NOTE: De-aeration tank will not be full of coolant when cap is removed. When looking in tank, if coolant tank is at least half full, do not add additional coolant.

  3. Test coolant using TY26605 COOL-GARD™ II 3-way test strips available from your John Deere™ dealer.

  4. NOTE: Follow instructions on back of reader card in test strip pack when testing coolant.

Add TY26603 COOL-GARD™ II coolant extender available from your John Deere™ dealer as indicated by the color matrix on reader card in test strip pack. If tank is too full, drain a small amount of coolant from system before extender is added.

  5. NOTE: Cap gasket should be visually checked for sealing effectiveness. A good functioning gasket should have the imprint of the mating surface with no apparent scratches or leak paths.

Install de-aeration tank cap and lower hood.
