Belt Cover A - Hood Release Loop B - Cap Screws
NOTE: Fan drive belt is equipped with an automatic tensioner which does not require adjustment. Pull hood release (A) and raise hood. Remove cap screws (B) and remove belt cover.  RXA0109509-UN-19AUG10
A - 1/2 in. Drive Breaker Bar B - Belt Tensioner Release tension on belt using 1/2 in. drive ratchet or breaker bar (A) on belt tensioner (B).
Remove belt from alternator pulley. Release tension on belt tensioner (B) and remove breaker bar.  RXA0109511-UN-19AUG10

B - Mark on Tension Arm C - Mark on Mounting Bracket Measure 21 mm (13/16 in.) from (B) and put a mark (C) on mounting bracket.
Rotate tension arm with a torque wrench until marks (B and C) align. If torque wrench measurement is not within specification, replace tensioner mechanism. (See your John Deere dealer.) | Item | Measurement | Specification | | Tension Arm | Torque | 18—23 N·m (159—204 lb-in.) |
Install belt and side shield. Lower hood.
