Bleeding Trailer Air Brakes (If Equipped) RXA0111369-UN-14OCT10

A - Red Trailer Air Brake Coupler B - Bleed Valves
The trailer air brakes are equipped with automatic bleed valves. The automatic bleed valves will vent an air/oil/water mixture multiple times during the normal operation of the tractor. To manually check if the automatic bleed valves are working two people are required. The first person will stand by the rear hitch and manually push in the red trailer air brake coupler (A). The second person will feel if the bleed valves (B) cycle. The bleed valves (B) are located on the bottom of the trailer brake air tanks. The air tanks are located in front of the rear axle on the right side of the tractor. - Start the tractor.
- Wait 1 minute for the air tanks to build up pressure.
- Person 1 will cycle the red trailer air brake coupler (A).NOTE: Continuous release of air will not allow the trailer air brakes to bleed. The coupler must be cycled in an on/off process.
- Person 2 will place hand 5 cm (2 in.) below bleed valves (B) and feel for a release of air, water, or oil.
The bleed valves cycle randomly. If they do not operate the first time, wait 10 minutes and try this process again. If no venting is observed, contact your John Deere dealer. John Deere is a trademark of Deere & Company
