Reduce Fuel Consumption
To reduce fuel consumption follow the guidelines that are listed
below:
-
Replace air cleaner elements and fuel, engine oil, and transmission/hydraulic
filter elements at specified service intervals (see Maintenance and
Service Intervals section of this Operator’s Manual or when
indicated by CommandCenter display messages).
-
Use recommended oils and lubricants only (See Fuel, Lubricants,
and Coolant Section).
-
Adjust hitch function for most efficient operation (See TouchSet
Depth Control Section).
-
Maintain correct tire pressures weekly (See Wheels, Tires, and
Treads Section).
-
Ballast tractor for conditions (See Performance Ballasting Section).
-
For gear transmissions, select correct gear. Always drive in
the highest possible gear with reduced engine speed. Choose a gear
so that the engine speed drops 150-250 rpm when the tractor is operating
and the engine is under load (See Operating the 18-Speed Powershift
Transmission in Operating the Tractor Section.)
NOTE: For light work, reduce engine speed below 2000 rpm. Select
a gear so that engine speed drops 200—300 rpm when operating.
-
See Operating 18-Speed Powershift Transmission using Efficiency
Manager™ to set Modes and Maximum Speed in Operating the Tractor
Section.
