If tractor must be towed, the best method is to lift rear axle and tow tractor backward.

CAUTION: Stop engine and remove key before working in hinge area.

IMPORTANT: Install hinge lock on tractor hinge cylinders before transporting tractor.

  1. Steer tractor straight ahead before installing hinge lock.

  2. Remove retaining nut (A) to remove hinge lock (C).

  3. Install hinge lock (C) with cap screws.

  4. Disconnect front axle by removing front axle drive shaft.

  5. NOTE: It is not necessary to release internal park brake because rear wheels are off the ground and front driveline is disconnected.

Release park brake on 18 Speed Powershift transmission. If tractor can not be started to release the park brake, see your John Deere Dealer for special tools required to release the brake.

  6. IMPORTANT: Never tow tractor faster than 8 km/h (5 mph) for a maximum distance of 8 km (5 mile).

Lift tractor by rear axle housings. Attach tow bar to tractor drawbar. Couple as closely as possible.

  7. Tow tractor slowly and cautiously.

  8. IMPORTANT: Be sure hinge lock is removed from hinge area before operating tractor.

Store hinge lock (B) on tractor.
