Transmission/Hydraulic/Axle Fill Tube

A - Full Hot Mark

B - Full Cold Mark

C - Min Cold Mark

D - Do Not Start Mark

E - Transmission Fill Tube

SERVICE INTERVAL — DAILY OR 10 HOURS

IMPORTANT: Do not operate tractor if oil level is below the “Do Not Start” mark (D) in sight gauge with engine off.

NOTE: Do this check first thing in the morning when everything is "cold". Cold means when the ambient temperature is no lower than 7° C. (45° F.)

The hydraulic oil reservoir does not hold the total hydraulic oil system capacity. The transmission, hydraulic reservoir and front and rear axle are included in the system.

  1. Check tractor and implement for leaks before daily start-up.

  2. Tractor should be parked on level ground and implement lowered to the ground.

  3. Transmission lever should be in PARK.

  4. Start the tractor and leave the engine speed set at 1200 rpm for 5 minutes.

  5. Transmission lever should remain in PARK.

  6. Shut engine OFF and wait 5 minutes for oil level to stabilize.

  7. Check oil level using the hydraulic reservoir sight gauge located on right side of the cab.

NOTE: As the tractor and hydraulic system get hot, the oil level will rise (increase) in the reservoir.

As ambient temperature falls below 7 C (45 F), oil that flows into the axles will not return until tractor motion warms the oil, resulting in a change to the reservoir oil level.

Oil level in the reservoir will fluctuate depending upon the volume of oil exchanged with an attached implement.

The pressure sensor will send alert if oil pressure falls too low due to low oil level.

With everything cold, the oil level should be between the Full Cold and Min Cold marks.

  8. NOTE: The volume capacity between the “Min Cold” and “Full Cold” marks is about 11.4 L. (3 gal.)

Estimate the volume that needs to be removed (or added).

If reservoir oil level is visible between Full Cold (B) and Min Cold (C) marks, tractor can be used for normal operation.

If reservoir oil level is below the “Do Not Start” mark, add oil directly to the hydraulic oil reservoir. See CHANGING TRANSMISSION-HYDRAULIC-AXLE OIL—24-Speed in Lubrication and Maintenance-1500 Hour Service Section 130 to remove right-hand cab panel.

If HY-GARD Transmission-Hydraulic oil is required, estimate oil volume needed and add using ground level fill tube (E) located at rear of transmission. Replace the fill tube plug.

  9. If oil level is above the Full Cold mark, remove oil to bring level to the Full Cold mark.

The recommended method to remove oil is use the drain valve at rear of reservoir, in hinge area under the cab. A hose can be attached to drain valve to direct oil into a container.
