Brake Use

RXA0135769-UN-26SEP13
A - Brake Pedal
CAUTION: Avoid possible personal injury. Reduce speed if towed
load weighs more than tractor or transporting loads under adverse
conditions. Avoid hard braking applications (see implement manual
and Transport Section).
IMPORTANT: Avoid unnecessary wear on brakes. DO NOT rest foot
on brake pedal during tractor operation.
NOTE: Brake life can be extended when stopping large loads by
using a combination of engine motoring and service brake torque to
slow the vehicle. This can be achieved by downshifting and then using
service brakes to further slow vehicle and bring engine speed to idle.
Test brakes with engine stopped to be sure manual brake system
is functioning (see Maintenance and Service Intervals section of this
Operator’s Manual).
Press brake pedal (A) to stop tractor while disengaging clutch.
Maintain at least 1800 engine rpm during aggressive braking
events to ensure adequate cooling oil flow is directed to vehicle
brakes. Do not over speed engine as it may cause damage to engine
or transmission components.
