Drivetrain Protection—9420RX, 9470RX, 9520RX, 9570RX, and 9620RX

To extend drivetrain and track life, avoid excessive soil compaction, and reduce rolling resistance: avoid adding excessive ballast. Never add ballast that results in operating with heavy loads and with continuous full-power below 6.6 km/h (4.1 mph). For 9RX Narrow, avoid operation with continuous full-power loads below 7.5 km/h (4.7 mph).

When tractor is operated under heavy load and low engine rpm, Powershift transmission may default to NEUTRAL. PARK will engage once track speed drops below 1.75 km/h (1.0 mph) for vehicle protection.

To engage transmission, move Powershift transmission lever to PARK, reduce load, and then shift back into desired operating gear.

A TIP Diagnostic code will be stored and displayed when default to PARK condition occurs.

Drivetrain protection system is gear-sensitive and will not be apparent in most situations. It does not affect load starting and only affects operations in gears with maximum operating speeds below 6.6 km/h (4.1 mph). Full engine horsepower, plus 10 percent power bulge is available in all other gears. Tractor is traction limited, not power limited, at slow ground speeds.

Electronic engine controls provide protection from drivetrain overloading. Engine horsepower is automatically reduced to protect drivetrain components when:

  • Air Filter Restriction Warning is activated (CCU 000107.00) the engine performance will be reduced. Service engine air filter immediately.
  • Fuel filter(s) become plugged resulting in a loss of power due to a reduction in delivered fuel. Service engine fuel filter immediately.
  • See your John Deere dealer for more details.
