Ballast Recommendations
Additional ballast not allowed if tractor is equipped with hitch,
or hitch and PTO.
Do not operate tractor at weight exceeding maximum
ballasted weight of 28122 kg (62000 lb). Warranty may be voided due
to “overload” conditions. Reduce load if unable to obtain correct
ballast without exceeding maximum ballasted weight. To
extend drivetrain and track life, avoid excessive soil compaction,
and reduce rolling resistance: avoid excessive ballast. Never add
ballast that results in operating with heavy loads and with continuous
full-power below 6.6 km/h (4.1 mph).
For 9RX Narrow tractor,
avoid operation with continuous full-power loads below 7.5 km/h (4.7
mph).
Do not operate tractor with:
- Extreme draft loads requiring two tractors hooked in tandem.
- Tow hooks. Adding tow hooks is not an option.
Optional front axle reinforcements and frame supports are required
when mounting front sprayer tanks or dozer blade. (Dozer blade not
approved for 9RX Narrow tractors.) See your John Deere dealer for
complete mounting instructions.
For front spray tanks:
- Do not exceed 1136 L (300 gal) capacity on each side.
- Intended for spray or fertilizer application purposes
only, not for extra ballast.
Use only as much ballast as necessary. Adjust ballast as tractor
use changes. Correct ballast allows for most efficient use of available
power to tractor but cannot make up for an implement which is too
big for tractor.
Adding ballast cannot overcome incorrect engine speed settings.
For correct ballast, measure amount of track slip. See Measure Track
Slip in this section of this Operator’s Manual.
Ballast Limitations
Wide 762 mm (30 in) or 914 mm (36 in) tracks
Maximum ballasted weight is 28122 kg (62000 lb). Maximum ballasted
weight is defined as tractor equipped with:
- All options
- Full fuel
- All ballast
- All attachments added or affixed by whatever means to
the machine at any point, except for the hitch or drawbar.
Narrow 457 mm (18 in) or 610 mm (24 in) tracks
Maximum ballasted weight is 28122 kg (62000 lb). Maximum ballasted
weight is defined as tractor equipped with:
- All options
- Full fuel
- All ballast
- All attachments added or affixed by whatever means to
the machine at any point, except for the hitch or drawbar.
Ballast Options
Equipment configuration determines maximum quantity of Quik-Tatch weights.
A maximum of eighteen 43 kg (95 lb) Quik-Tatch weights can be added to rear of
tractor as long as maximum ballasted weight does not exceed 28122
kg (62000 lb). See Quik-Tatch Weight Use in this section of this Operator’s Manual.
