Before Starting the Engine

CAUTION:
Prevent asphyxiation. Engine exhaust fumes can cause sickness or death to you or someone else.
If you must operate engine in a building, be positive there is adequate ventilation. Either
|
use an exhaust pipe extension to remove the exhaust fumes or open doors and windows to bring enough outside air into the area.
1.
Ensure park brake lever (A) is up and park brake is engaged.

IMPORTANT:
Starter will not operate if forward/reverse selector lever is out of neutral position.
2.
Place forward/reverse lever (A) in neutral position.

3.
Place gear shift lever (A) and range shift lever (B) in neutral.

IMPORTANT:
Starter will not operate if PTO engagement lever is in engaged position.
4.
Ensure PTO engage lever (A) is in OFF position.

5.
Place rockshaft control lever (A) in LOWER position.

6.
Turn key switch to ON position and check indicators. Indicators should glow with key in ON position. If any indicator does not function properly, see your John Deere dealer.
7.
Check fuel gauge to be sure tractor has plenty of fuel.
