Crankshaft Vibration Damper Radial (Concentricity)
-
Grasp crankshaft vibration damper with both hands and attempt
to turn it in both directions. If rotation is felt, crankshaft vibration
damper is defective and should be replaced.
IMPORTANT: Crankshaft vibration damper is not repairable and
should be replaced every 4500 hours or 60 months, whichever occurs
first.
-
Check crankshaft vibration damper radial runout by positioning
a dial indicator so probe contacts crankshaft vibration damper outer
diameter.
-
Remove starter motor.
-
Rotate crankshaft using JDG1704 or JDG10221 flywheel turning
tool as shown.
-
Note dial indicator reading. If runout exceeds specification,
replace crankshaft vibration damper.
