SERVICE INTERVAL

 

INITIAL — 100 HOURS Maximum

 

REGULAR — 300 HOURS Can be extended to 500 Hours if John Deere Plus-50™ oil and John Deere filter are used.

IMPORTANT: During the first 100 hours of operation, fill with John Deere DIESEL ENGINE BREAK-IN OIL. (See section 85 Fuel, Lubricants, and Coolant for oil specifications.)

If tractor is used under light load conditions during first 100 hours, refill with DIESEL ENGINE BREAK-IN OIL for an additional 100 hours to allow engine to break in properly.

If diesel fuel has a high sulfur content, refer to DIESEL ENGINE OIL in section 85 Fuel, Lubricants, and Coolant.

  1. Operate engine to warm oil.

  2. PARK tractor on level ground and SHUT OFF engine. Remove key.

  3. Remove oil drain plug (A) and drain oil.

  4. Open hood.

  5. Remove engine oil filter (B).

    NOTE: Make sure old filter gasket is completely removed from housing before installing new filter.

  6. Apply a film of oil on new oil filter gasket and install new filter. Hand-tighten plus 1/2 turn.

  7. Install drain plug (A).

  8. Add oil to filler (C). (See Diesel Engine Oil in section 85 Fuel, Lubricants and Coolant.)

  9. Start engine and keep running for some time.

  10. SHUT OFF engine.

  11. Inspect drain plug (A) and filter (B) for leaks.

    NOTE: If oil leaks in excess see your John Deere dealer.

  12. Recheck oil level, add if necessary.

  13. Lower hood.

    NOTE: 5085M, 5095M, 5095MH and 5105M shown, 5105ML similar.
