CAUTION: Prevent asphyxiation. Engine exhaust fumes can cause sickness or death to you or someone else.

If you must operate engine in a building, be positive there is adequate ventilation. Either use an exhaust pipe extension to remove the exhaust fumes or open doors and windows to bring enough outside air into the area.

  1. Check fuel gauge to be sure that tractor has plenty of fuel.

  2. For Single Clutch Single PTO (SCSP) If Equipped: Place gearshift lever (A) in park position (P), range shift lever (B) in NEUTRAL (N), and standard PTO lever (C) in OFF position. If the levers are not in these positions, starters never operate.

  3. For Single Clutch Dual PTO (SCDP) If Equipped: Place gearshift lever (A) in park position (P), range shift lever (B) in NEUTRAL (N), PTO lever (G) in OFF position. If the levers are not in these positions, starters never operate.

  4. For Dual Clutch Dual PTO (DCDP) If Equipped: Place gearshift lever (A) in park position (P), range shift lever (B) in NEUTRAL (N). If the levers are not in these positions, starters never operate.

NOTE: Starter operates independent of position EH PTO Knob (H) and PTO lever (G) in DCDP but PTO will not operate. For operation of PTO, reset the PTO knob to OFF position (if it is in ON position) and then to ON position.

  5. Place rockshaft control levers (D and E) in lowered position and SCV lever (F) in neutral position.

  6. NOTE: Instrument cluster must illuminate neutral indicator light.

Check indicator lights. Indicators illuminate when the key switch is turned to the ON position.

If any indicator does not function properly, see your John Deere dealer.

STOP Sign Indicator and Buzzer

Ignition ON (Engine not cranked yet)- Ensure that STOP sign (I) illuminates and Buzzer sounds when the key is in ‘Ignition ON’ position. This confirms health of Diagnostic system. If either or both of the Indications don’t work, Customer should Contact John Deere dealer to repair the same. The STOP sign and buzzer sound should both turn off as the Engine starts running above idle RPM.

NOTE: Stop indicator and buzzer may appear intermittently below low idle ERPM.

While Engine is running above idle RPM- STOP Indicator Illuminates and Buzzer sounds at the same time. Shutoff engine IMMEDIATELY contact John Deere dealer.
