Tow Tractor—MFWD If Equipped

CAUTION: NEVER tow the tractor faster than 16 km/h (10 mph). Have an operator steer and brake tractor.

To avoid damaging transmission-hydraulic system, observe the following precautions:

  1. PY42579
    PY42579-UN-31JUL17

    PY7637
    PY7637-UN-16OCT07

    A - Cap Screw (3 used)

    B - Drive Shaft Shield

    C - Spring Pin

    D - Coupler

Disconnect MFWD drive shaft if towing tractor with front wheels on a carrier.

    1. Remove cap screws (A) and slide driveshaft shield (B) away from the drop housing. Repeat on opposite end.

    2. Remove spring pin (C) using a punch and hammer.

    3. Support driveshaft and slide coupler (D) toward the drop housing.

    4. Remove driveshaft, shields, and couplers.

  2. APY02494
    APY02494-UN-05MAR18

    A - Transmission/Hydraulic Oil Dipstick

Be sure that transmission-hydraulic system reaches the full mark on dipstick (A). If the tractor is to be towed with the front wheels raised, add 1 liter of oil for each 90 mm (3-1/2 in.) The wheels are raised. DO NOT raise front wheels more than 305 mm (12 in) above ground.

NOTE: After transporting tractor, drain oil that was added for towing.

  3. Tap brake pedals to make sure that differential lock is not engaged.

  4. Make sure that PTO is disengaged.

  5. Place range and gearshift levers in neutral.

After Towing
If equipped with MFWD: Apply multipurpose grease to couplers and shaft splines and install driveshaft assembly.
Drain excess transmission-hydraulic oil to the lower level back to full.
