Bleed Brake System
CAUTION:

X9811-UN-23AUG88
Escaping fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin causing
serious injury. Avoid the hazard by relieving pressure before disconnecting
hydraulic or other lines. Tighten all connections before applying
pressure. Search for leaks with a piece of cardboard. Protect hands
and body from high-pressure fluids. If an accident occurs,
see a doctor immediately. Any fluid injected into the skin must be
surgically removed within a few hours or gangrene may result. Doctors
unfamiliar with this type of injury should reference a knowledgeable
medical source. Such information is available from Deere & Company
Medical Department in Moline, Illinois, U.S.A.
NOTE: Two service technicians are needed to bleed the brake
system: one to operate the brake pedals and the other to open and
close bleed screws.
Bleed Trailer Brake System
IMPORTANT: Trailer brake system bleeding needs to be done whenever
trailer brake valve is installed on tractor or whenever the oil lines
are repaired or reinstalled or transmission/hydraulic oil is filled
up in the transmission reservoir.

A - Bleed Screw
REASON:
For the proper functioning of trailer brake system and to remove
air bubbles from the trailer brake system.
CONNECTIONS:
Connect a clear plastic tube to the trailer brake valve bleed
screw (A). Put the other end of tube into a suitable container.
PROCEDURE:
-
Open rubber cap from the bleed screw and connect a plastic pipe
to bleed screw.
-
Start the engine and run at slow idle to keep brake valve reservoir
full of oil.
-
Pump brake pedal to obtain highest pedal position and hold.
Loosen bleed screw 3/4 turn and slowly push brake pedal. Before brake
pedal completes full pedal travel, tighten bleed screw.
-
Let pedal return slowly to the top of its stroke. Continue this
operation until the flow of oil in plastic tube is free of air bubbles.
-
When flow of oil is free of air bubbles hold down the pedal
and tighten bleed screw as per the specification.

NOTE: Always ensure to perform brake bleeding after installation
of trailer brake valve.
Bleed Tractor Brake System
-
Start engine and check for leaks.
-
Check for proper transmission/hydraulic oil level. Add as needed.

A - Bleed Port
Anytime the brake system has been opened for service (lines
disconnected, etc.), it is necessary to bleed air from the brake system.
-
Connect a clear plastic tube on left brake bleed Port (A). Drain
into container.
-
Start engine and run at slow idle to keep brake valve reservoir
full of oil.
-
Pump brake pedal to obtain highest pedal position and hold.
Loosen bleed screw 3/4 turn and slowly push brake pedal. Before brake
pedal completes full pedal travel, tighten bleed screw.
-
Let pedal return slowly to top of stroke. Continue this operation
until flow of oil in plastic tube is free of air bubbles.
-
When flow is of oil is free of air bubbles, hold pedal down
and tighten bleed screw.
-
Remove plastic tube.
