Before Starting the Engine

A - Gear Shift Lever
B - Range Shift Lever
C - PTO Lever
D - SCV Lever
E - Position Control Lever Stop
F - Position Control Lever
G - Forward-Reverse Lever
CAUTION: Prevent asphyxiation. Engine exhaust fumes can cause
sickness or death to you or someone else. If you must
operate engine in a building, be positive there is adequate ventilation.
Either use an exhaust pipe extension to remove the exhaust fumes or
open doors and windows to bring enough outside air into the area.

Check fuel gauge to be sure that tractor has plenty of fuel.

Place range shift lever (B) in NEUTRAL position.

Place gear shift lever (A) in NEUTRAL position and PTO lever
(C) in NEUTRAL position.

Place forward-reverse lever (G) in NEUTRAL.

Place control levers (D, E, and F) in lowered position.
NOTE: For Sync Reverser Transmission: Engine will not start
if range shift lever and PTO lever are not in neutral position. For Collar Reverser Transmission: Engine will not start if forward-reverse
lever and PTO lever are not in neutral position.

Check indicator lights. Indicators illuminate when key switch
is turned to the ON position.
If any indicator does not function properly, see your John Deere
dealer.

If air filter indicator illuminates in instrument cluster, please
check and clean the air filter element. (See Air Restriction Sensor
in Operate the Engine section.)
