Check and Adjust the Governor Lever and Engine Speed Control
(Except Electronically Controlled Engines)
-
IMPORTANT: NEVER attempt to adjust the low or high idle speed
limit screw. This may impair the safety and performance of the machine
and shorten its life.
Check that the governor lever (A) makes firm contact with the
high idle stop (B) and the low idle speed limit screw (C) when the
engine speed control is in the full speed or low idle speed positions.

A - Governor Lever
B - High Idle Stop
C - Speed Limit Screw
-
If the governor lever (A) does not make proper contact with
the high idle stop or the low idle speed limit screw (C), adjust the
throttle cable or linkage as necessary.
NOTE: DO NOT FORCE the throttle cable or linkage to move. This
may damage the governor lever, the throttle cable or linkage and cause
irregular operation of the engine speed control.
