A - Radiator cap

B - Drain valve

Service Interval — Every 2000 hours

CAUTION: DO NOT remove radiator cap or drain coolant until coolant is cold (temperature gauge should be below the green striped zone). Always loosen radiator cap or drain valve slowly to relieve any excess pressure.

  1. Raise hood and remove side screens.

  2. Remove radiator cap (A).

  3. Open drain valve (B) and drain coolant.

  4. Remove fan guard.

    A - Cap Screw

    B - Coolant Pipe

    C - Thermostat Housing

    D - Thermostat

Remove cap screw (A), and pull coolant pipe (B) from thermostat housing (C).

  6. Remove two caps screws and thermostat housing (C).

  7. Remove thermostat (D).

  8. Remove old gasket material from cover and housing. Apply General Purpose Gasket Dressing or equivalent to new gasket.

  9. Install new thermostat as shown.

  10. Install new gasket and cover. Tighten cap screws to 47 N.m (35 lb-ft).

  11. Install new O-ring on coolant pipe.

  12. Install coolant pipe and cap screw.

  13. Close radiator drain valve and fill with a mixture of antifreeze, soft water, and coolant conditioner as specified in “Fuels, Lubricants and Coolant” section.

  14. Install fan guard.

  15. Fill radiator to the top of the filler neck and fill the recovery tank to the “LOW” mark. Run the engine until operating temperature is reached. Let the engine cool (preferably overnight) and recheck the coolant level. Coolant level with a cold engine should be at the “LOW” mark. An engine at operating temperature should have a coolant level at the “FULL" mark. When refilling the cooling system it may require several operating/cooling periods to stabilize the coolant level in the system. Add make-up coolant to the recovery tank as needed to bring the coolant level to the correct mark.

  16. Install side screens.
