Checking Toe-In—MFWD Tractor

CQ283697-UN-21DEC09
A - Toe-In Spacing MFWD
-
Disengage front-wheel drive and park tractor on a plain and
level surface. Straighten front wheels. Shut off engine.
-
Measure distance between tire center line (A) at hub height,
in front of axle (using inner or outer edge of tire profile). Write
down measurement and mark tires.
-
Back-up for approximately 1m (3 ft); now the mark is at hub
level behind the axle. Measure again the distance between tires at
the mark. Write down measurements.
-
Determine the difference between front and rear measurements.
If front measurement is smaller, there is toe-in. If rear measurement
is smaller, wheels are diverging and there is no toe-in. The difference
between the two measurements (convergence or divergence) must be less
than 3 mm (1/8 in.). Adjust toe-in, if necessary. (Consult procedure
in this section.)
