Electrical System Troubleshooting

Battery will not charge

Loose or corroded connections

Clean and tighten connections.

 

Loose or faulty fan/alternator belt.

Adjust belt tension or change it

Load system indicator light comes on when engine in operation

Low engine speed

Increase speed.

 

Defective battery

Recharge or change battery.

 

Defective alternator

See your John Deere Dealership.

 

Fan belt slip

Increase belt tension.

Starter motor inoperative

PTO lever is engaged

Disengage PTO lever.

 

Low battery voltage

Check charge.

 

Blown fuse

Replace fuse.

Starter cranks slowly

Low battery voltage

Check charge.

 

Oil in crankcase too viscous

Use oil of proper viscosity.

 

Loose or corroded connections

Clean and tighten connections.

Light system does not work but rest of electrical system is operative

Poor battery connection

Clean and tighten connections.

 

Blown fuse

Replace fuse.

Relay inoperative

Faulty circuit diode protector

Replace diode module.
