Connecting Hydraulic Hoses

1. Hydraulic system operates with high-pressure fluid. For your own protection and to assure proper functioning of the system, use only genuine John Deere parts.

   Hydraulic hoses can fail due to physical damage, kinks, time of usage, and exposure. Check your hoses regularly. Replace damaged hoses.

   To prevent hydraulic system contamination, make sure hose fittings and quick couplers are clean.

   Put transmission in PARK position.

2. Make sure Selective Control Valve levers are in Neutral position.

3. Remove the dust caps from quick couplers (A).

4. Clean the quick coupler and the hose.

5. Connect remote cylinder hoses as indicated on dust cap (A).

   Check the cylinder's direction of movement on dust cap (A). Install hydraulic hoses according to indication of the cylinder's direction of movement.

   If using single action cylinders, connect hose to extension quick coupler.

6. Install the hose by pushing its end firmly against the selective control valve quick coupler.

7. Pull on hose to make sure positive connection was made.

   If hoses should accidentally come loose from tractor during use, check if there is any problem with the hose and the SCV quick coupler. Repeat installation procedure.

   If cylinder response is reversed, extending when it should retract, reverse hose connections at coupler.

8. Start tractor and operate SCV control levers (A), (B) and (C) to charge cylinders and confirm hoses are properly connected.

9. Check oil level with cylinder extended until end of travel. Add hydraulic oil if necessary.

   Oil level with cylinder extended should not be below lower mark on dipstick (A).
