Operating PTO at Correct Speed

    Engage clutch pedal and start engine.

  2. Push hand throttle (A) forward until tachometer indicates a speed of 1700 rpm (B) to operate power take-off at 540E, or 2400 rpm (C) for power take-off operation at standard 540. Engine speed is mechanically controlled for a maximum of 1700 rpm in 540E position. 540E operation should not be engaged if engine speed is above 1700 rpm.

    Move power take-off engage lever (A) forward to engage power take-off. Warning light (B) should light up when power take-off is engaged. Move lever forward until end of travel and hold in this position until power take-off starts operating.
  4. Move control lever backward to disengage power take-off. Move lever backward until end of travel and hold in this position until power take-off stops moving.

Turn off engine, remove ignition key and make sure that all mechanisms have stopped before cleaning the machine or making adjustments to any PTO driven implement.
