Carrying Out Break-In Period Checks
Initial break-in service interval must last at least
100 hours and applies to all new or reconditioned engines.
Initial break-in service interval with John Deere Break-In oil is
100 hours to guarantee coupling between ring surfaces and engine liners.
During the first 100 hours, perform the following services:
First 10 Hours

Check front axle differential housing oil level (4WD axle)

Check front axle final drives oil level (4WD axle)

Tighten front-wheel drive attaching nuts (4WD axle)
-
Lubricate front axle kingpins (4WD axle)
-
Lubricate front axle U-joints (4WD axle)
-
Lubricate front axle pivot pin bearings (4WD axle)
Always keep wheel bolts tightened to prevent tractor
damage. Check wheel bolt torque after 10 hours of tractor operation,
and then at regular intervals.
Every 10 hours or daily

Check engine oil level

Check coolant level

Lubricate front axle lube points (2WD axle)1

Lubricate rear axle bearings1

Lubricate steering arms (2WD axle)

Lubricate the three-point rear hitch1

Lubricate Power Take-Off (PTO) shaft1

Drain water and sediment from fuel filter

Check front axle oil level

Check the transmission-hydraulic oil level

Lubricate front axle king pins (4WD axle)2

Lubricate front axle U-joints (4WD axle)2

Lubricate front axle pivot pin bearings (4WD axle)2

Lubricate steering rod ends using general-purpose grease (2WD

Lubricate front axle linkage pin or pivot (2WD axle)1

Check condition of alternator belt

Check tire conditions and corresponding inflation pressure

Check wheel bolt torque. Tighten if necessary

Check the lights
Weekly

Every 50 Hours

Check tires condition

Check tractor for loose screws and nuts

Clean dust unload valve of air engine cleaner

Check charge and clean battery terminals
First 100 Hours

Check engine coolant level

Check cooling system for leaks

Tighten clamps of air intake hoses

Check wheel nut and bolt torques (2WD axle)

Check torque of three-point rear hitch screws
-
Retighten hydraulic hoses
-
Change the engine oil
-
Replace the engine oil filter
-
Replace transmission and hydraulic system oil filter
-
Change final drive oil (4WD axle)
-
Change front axle differential oil (4WD axle)
