Checking Toe-In - 4X2 Axle
LV9463-UN-24JUL04
Correctly adjusted toe-in facilitates maneuvering and increases
the service life of the front tires.
Check toe-in as follows:
-
Park tractor on level surface.
-
Turn steering so that front wheels are in a straight line. Shut
off engine.
-
Measure distance (A) (front part of axle) at hub level. Write
down measurements and mark tires.
-
Move tractor over approximately 1m (3 ft) so that the mark is
at hub level, but behind the axle. Measure the distance between the
tires at the same point. Write down measurements and mark tires.
-
Determine the difference between the measurements. If front
measurement is smaller, adjust inner toe-in. If rear measurement is
smaller, adjust outer toe-in.
-
Measurement (A) at front of tires should be between 3 — 6 mm
(1/8 — 1/4 in.) smaller than measurement at rear side of tires.
-
Adjust toe-in if necessary.
