Rear Wheel Slip Measuring Methods Using a Chronometer
-
CQ207330-UN-02AUG01
Mark two points (flag) A and B at a distance of approximately 30 m between
them.
-
Start working 20 m (65 ft 7 in.) before flag A. Start chronometer when reaching flag A and stop measurement when reaching flag B.
-
Travel the same distance, but now with raised implement, and
register the time between points A and B, using the same gear and engine speed.
Slip (%) =
(time for step 2 - time for step 3) X 100
Time for step 2
Example: Working, time = 15 s Implement without
load = 13 s
Slip =
(15 - 13) x 100
= 13.3 %
15
Add more weight if slip is excessive, always observing
recommended maximum values. For rates below minimum, weights must
be removed.
