Replacing Automatic Engine Fan Belt Tensioner — 5078E, 5085E, and 5090E Tractors

  1. Remove starter key from tractor before starting work on engine.

    Pull catch (A) and raise hood.


  2. Remove cap screws (B) and (C) and remove guard (D).

  3. Release belt tension; to do so, couple a 1/2 inch lever to 1/2 inch square hole (E) and turn rocker arm counterclockwise.

  4. Remove belt (F) from pulleys and release tension by removing lever.

  5. Remove hex bolt (G) and tensioner (H).

  6. Install new tensioner (H) and tighten hex bolt (G) to specification:
    Hex Bolt (G)Torque50 N·m (27 lb.-ft.)

  7. Reinstall belt (F) by following reverse order of removal.
