Long Term Storage
If the tractor will not be used for more than six
(6) months, use the following procedure to reduce corrosion and deterioration
to a minimum.

5075E Tractor
CQ294687-UN-25JUL13
5078E, 5085E and 5090E Tractors

Carry out air filter service. To do so, see (Cleaning Primary
Engine Filter, Checking Primary Engine Filter and Replacing Primary
and Secondary Air Filter (Safety), in Section Service—As Required).
-
If coolant is already in tractor for approximately 6 years,
clean cooling system. To do so, see (Replacing Thermostat Valve and
Changing Engine Coolant, in Section Service—Every 6000 Hours or 6
Years).
-
Change engine oil and oil filter (A). To do so, see (Changing
Engine Oil and Oil Filter in Service—Every 250 Hours section). Oil
used does not provide adequate protection. Add
rust inhibitor to engine crankcase: Use 30 mL of rust inhibitor for
1 liter of engine oil, or 1 oz. of rust inhibitor for 1 qt. of engine
oil.
Rust inhibitor should be SAE 10 oil with 1 to 4 %
morpholine or equivalent volatile rust inhibitor, such as NOX RUST
VCI-10 OIL, produced by Daubert Chemical Company, Inc.
-
Drain fuel and fill with 4 liters (1.1 U.S.gal.) of fuel.
-
Add 0.25 liter of rust inhibitor to transmission/hydraulic system
through filler neck (B).
-
Start engine and run until operating temperature is reached.
Raise and lower hydraulic hitch several times. Then shut off engine.
-
Add 0.5 liter (0.13 U.S.gal.) of rust inhibitor to fuel tank
through opening (A).

-
Add 0.5 liter (0.13 U.S.gal.) of rust inhibitor to engine crankcase
through filler neck (B).
-
To prevent engine from starting when turning it disconnect fuel
shut-off solenoid. To do so, see location in (Fuel System Components,
in Section—Service As Required).
On 5075E Tractors with Bosch A4000 injection pump1 fuel cut-off
actuation is manual. To prevent engine from starting when turning
it pull fuel shut-off knob (C) totally backward and then push it upward
until it snaps into position shown.
-
Disconnect air intake hose from inlet manifold. Add 0.1 liter
(0.03 U.S.gal.) of rust inhibitor to inlet manifold and reconnect
hose. Move hand throttle backwards to slow idle position. Crank engine
a few times.
-
Wait for engine and engine components to cool down and release
alternator/fan belt.
-
Remove and clean battery. Store it in a dry and cool place.
Keep it charged.
-
Tie down or lock clutch pedal in clutch engaged position (pedal
in lower position).
-
Cover exposed metallic surfaces with grease or rust inhibitor.
-
Use adhesive plastic and tape to seal air entry points, exhaust
pipe, vent and filler neck etc.
-
Cover instrument panel with opaque plastic to prevent discoloration
of gauges.
-
Raise tires off ground. Protect them against heat and sunlight.
-
Clean underside of tractor. Retouch paintwork that is scratched
or marked.
-
If storing tractor outdoors, cover it up with a waterproof tarp.
1 Identify injection pump installed on tractor
according to reference in Fuel System Components - 5075E Tractor,
in Section Service—As Required.
