IMPORTANT: New engines are filled, at the factory, with John
Deere Break-In Plus™ Engine Oil. (See Fuels, Lubricants, and
Coolants section for oil specifications.) If the engine
has too much operating time at idle, constant speeds, and/or light
load usage, or make-up oil is required during the first 100-hour period,
a longer break-in period may be needed without changing Break-In Plus
oil until 500 hours.
If diesel fuel has a high sulfur content, refer to Diesel Engine
Oil in Fuels, Lubricants, and Coolants section.

Operate engine to warm oil.

Park tractor on level ground and SHUT OFF engine. Remove key.

Remove oil drain plug (A) and drain oil.

Open hood.
-
Remove engine oil filter (B).
NOTE: Make sure old filter gasket is completely removed from
housing before installing new filter.

Apply a film of oil on new oil filter gasket and install new
filter. Hand-tighten plus 1/2 turn.

Install drain plug (A).

Add oil to filler (C). (See Diesel Engine Oil in Fuels, Lubricants,
and Coolants section.)

Start engine and inspect drain plug (A) and filter (B) for leaks..

Stop engine and remove key.

NOTE: If oil leaks in excess see your John Deere dealer.

Recheck oil level, add if necessary.

Lower hood.
