Change Transmission Sump Oil and Filter (S.N. 872257- )

Perform steps 1-8 before leaving the operator's seat:

1. Park machine on a level surface.

2. Move backhoe and stabilizer to transport position and lower loader bucket to ground.

IMPORTANT: Turbocharger may be damaged if engine is not properly shut down.

3. Operate engine at 1/2 speed without load for two minutes.

4. Move speed control lever to slow idle position.

5. Move gear FNR range lever to neutral.

causym CAUTION: Never rely on direction selector lever alone to keep machine from moving. Machine can unexpectedly roll or move under power, resulting in death or serious injury. Always engage park brake to hold machine.

6. Set park brake.

7. Turn key switch to OFF position to stop engine. Remove key from switch

8. Move hydraulic control levers to release hydraulic pressure.

9. Remove either transmission drain plug (A) to drain oil.

10. Turn filter (B) counterclockwise and remove.

11. Apply film of oil to sealing ring on new filter, install until it touches mounting surface and tighten an additional 3/4 to one turn with a suitable wrench.

12. Install drain plug and fill transmission at filler/check tube (C). (See Fuels and Lubricants chapter for proper type of oil.)

13. Start engine and run at slow idle for three minutes to warm oil.

14. With engine running at slow idle, turn dipperstick handle (C) counterclockwise and remove.

15. Check oil level on dipperstick. If necessary, add oil. (See Fuels and Lubricants chapter.)

16. Check oil level on dipperstick again.

17. Install dipperstick and turn clockwise to tighten.
