Starting the Engine

causym CAUTION: Avoid possible injury or death from a runaway machine.

DO NOT start engine by shorting across starter terminals. Machine will start in gear if normal circuitry is bypassed.

NEVER start engine while standing on ground. Start engine only from operator's seat, with transmission gear shift lever and FNR range lever in neutral.

Use of seat belt with this rollover protective structure is recommended under almost all operating conditions.

1. Fasten seat belt.

2. Sound the horn.

3. Move FNR range lever (A) to neutral "N".

4. Turn key switch clockwise to BULB CHECK position and hold. If any indicator bulbs do not light, check the reason.

IMPORTANT: After a false start, DO NOT turn key switch to START position until engine stops, to prevent flywheel and starter damage.

Never operate starter motor for more than 20 seconds at a time. If the engine fails to start after several times, return key switch to OFF. Wait for about two minutes, then try again.

Engine will not start by towing or pushing. Permanent damage to engine or transmission will result.

5. Move speed control lever (A) to 1/3 speed position and turn key switch clockwise to START position.

6. Release key as soon as engine starts, or after 20 seconds if engine does not start. Wait two minutes before you try to start engine again.

7. After start-up, cycle park brake switch ON/OFF to release park brake.
