Planning Spoil Piles

To prevent cave-ins, place spoil pile at least 1 m (3 ft) away from excavation. The deeper the excavation the further the spoil pile should be placed from the excavation. Place spoil piles for convenient truck loading or backfilling.

On slopes, place spoil piles on the upper side of the slope for improved machine stability and easier backfilling.
