Moving the Machine with Backhoe Bucket

Normally, as the operator finishes a section, he places the backhoe in transport position and drives the machine forward.

When digging on level ground, an experienced operator may instead use the backhoe to move the machine forward.

  • Wheels must be pointed straight ahead and the path must be clear. The backhoe and machine must be in line.
  • Make sure there are no bystanders in the area.
  • Move FNR range lever to neutral "N".
  • Release park brake.
  • Raise loader bucket.
  • Raise stabilizers so tires are on ground.
  • Retract backhoe boom and dipperstick. Place bucket teeth firmly in the ground.
  • Slowly extend dipperstick and lower boom to move machine forward.
  • After machine has been moved, lower stabilizers and loader bucket. Set park brake.
