Towing Procedure

If the engine or the hydraulic system are non-functional, the park brake is ON.

causym CAUTION: Do not allow an operator on the machine being towed unless the operator can control the steering and brakes.

causym CAUTION: Prevent possible injury from unexpected machine movement. Place blocks at front and rear of tires to prevent machine from rolling.

IMPORTANT: Engine cannot be started by towing.

Tow the machine off-road to the nearest location where repair work can be done. Limit tow to 460 m (500 yd) maximum.

Never tow machine faster than 3.2 km/hr (2 mph).

Haul the machine if it must be moved further than 460 m (500 yd).

1. Place blocks at front and rear of tires.

2. Connect the towed and towing machines together.

NOTE: Install frame locking bar to prevent weaving as machine is towed.

3. Start engine, if possible, and install frame locking bar.

4. Move FNR lever to neutral position. Engage neutral lock.

5. Stop engine.

6. On relief valves (A) mark a line (D) across flats of both relief valve nuts (B and C). Loosen nut (B) and turn two full turns counterclockwise.

7. Remove cap (A) from park brake.

8. Loosen lock nut (C).

9. Using an 8 mm hex wrench with short end cut to 22 mm (0.875 in.), turn adjusting screw (D) counterclockwise until brake disk is free.

10. Tighten lock nut to specification.

Park Brake Lock Nut -Torque 40-70 N·m (29.5-51.6 lb-ft)

11. Install cap (A) and tighten by hand.

12. Remove blocks from tires and tow the machine slowly.

13. Park machine on level surface and place blocks at front and rear of tires.

IMPORTANT: Park brake adjustment must be performed with brakes cold.

14. Remove cap (A) from park brake.

15. Start engine and leave in neutral. Release park brake.

16. Loosen lock nut (C).

17. Using a 8 mm (0.315 in.) hex wrench (B) with the short end cut to 22 mm (0.875 in.), turn adjusting screw (D) clockwise until brake pads make contact with brake disk.

18. Turn adjusting screw counterclockwise one-half turn. The gap between the disc and pads must be to specification. Adjust as necessary.

Specification

Park Brake Disk-to-Pad -Gap 1.0 ± 0.5 mm (0.039 ± 0.019 in.)

19. Hold the adjusting screw in position with hex wrench and tighten lock nut to specification.

20. Install cap (A) and tighten by hand.

21. Stop engine.

IMPORTANT: Lines (D) must align on relief valve nuts (B and C) or damage to machine may occur.

22. On relief valves (A) tighten nut (B) two full turns clockwise until lines (D) on relief valve nuts (B and C) align.
