Change Front Differential Oil

1. Park machine on a level surface.

2. Lower front-mounted equipment to ground.

causym CAUTION: Prevent possible injury from unexpected machine movement. Connect frame locking pin to both frames before working in frame hinge pivot area.

3. Install frame locking pin before working in frame hinge pivot area.

4. Push park brake switch to ON to engage park brake.

IMPORTANT: Turbocharger may be damaged if engine is not properly shut down.

5. Run engine at 1/2 speed for 2 minutes before stopping to avoid damage to turbocharger.

6. Move engine speed control knob to slow idle position.

7. Turn key switch OFF. Remove key from switch.

8. Remove drain plug (A). Allow oil to drain into a container. Dispose of waste oil properly.

9. Install drain plug.

10. Remove check plugs (B).

11. Remove top rear access cover.

12. Remove return hose (1).

IMPORTANT: Differential housings have three sumps. Fill each housing slowly to let oil drain into all sumps.

13. Add appropriate volume of oil through return hose until oil flows out of check plug holes.

  • 1200 series axle capacity 19 L (20 qt)
  • 1400 series axle capacity 28 L (7.5 gal)

14. Install check plugs.

15. Install hose and fitting.
