Draining Cooling System

Drain and flush cooling system using commercial products, and refill with new coolant.

1. Remove bottom guard (A). Bottom guard is hinged at end (B).

causym CAUTION: Prevent possible injury from hot spraying water. DO NOT remove radiator cap until engine is cool. Then loosen cap slowly to the stop. Release all pressure before removing cap.

2. Slowly turn cap to the stop to release air to relieve pressure. Remove radiator cap.

3. Disconnect hose from recovery tank to drain tank. Allow coolant to drain into a container. Dispose of used coolant properly.

4. Attach a hose to engine drain valve (A) to capture coolant in a container.

5. Open drain valve to drain engine block. Dispose of used coolant properly.

6. Attach a hose to radiator drain valve (A) to capture coolant in a container.

7. Open drain valve to drain radiator. Dispose of waste coolant properly. Cooling system capacity is approximately 24.6 L (6.5 gal) for the 643H and 30.7 L (8.1 gal) for the 843H.

8. Check coolant hoses (B) for cracks or leaks. Replace if necessary.

9. Tighten clamps.

10. Check radiator and oil cooler for dirt, damage, leaks, and loose or broken mountings. Clean radiator and oil cooler fins.
