Prepare Machine for Maintenance

Before performing maintenance procedures given in the following chapters and before leaving the operator's seat, park the machine as described below unless another position is specified in the procedure.

1. Park machine on a level surface.

2. Lower front-mounted equipment to ground.

causym CAUTION: Prevent unexpected machine movement and possible injury. Connect frame locking pin to both frames before working in frame hinge pivot area.

3. Install frame locking pin before working in frame hinge pivot area.

4. Push park brake switch to ON to engage park brake.

IMPORTANT: Turbocharger may be damaged if engine is not properly shut down.

5. Run engine at 1/2 speed for 2 minutes before stopping to avoid damage to turbocharger.

6. Move engine speed control knob to slow idle position.

7. Turn key switch OFF. Remove key from switch. (If maintenance must be performed with engine running, DO NOT leave machine unattended.)

8. Attach a "Do Not Operate" tag to the key switch.
