Starting Fluid (Cold Weather Start Aid)

Replacing Start Aid

1. Loosen clamp (A).

2. Turn start aid can (B) counterclockwise to remove.

3. Remove safety cap from new can.

4. Turn start aid can clockwise in base (C) to install.

5. Tighten clamp.

Operating Machine Without Start Aid Can Installed

IMPORTANT: Protect start aid components from dirt and contaminants. Install cap.

Remove start aid can from base and install cap (D).

Using Start Aid

causym CAUTION: Prevent possible injury from exploding container. Start aid fluid is highly flammable. Keep container away from heat, sparks, and open flame. Contents are pressurized. Do not puncture or incinerate container. Remove container from machine if engine does not need start aid.

IMPORTANT: Prevent damage to engine. Use start aid when temperatures are below 4°C (40°F) and only when engine is COLD.

1. Turn key switch clockwise to START position.

IMPORTANT: Excess start aid fluid could damage engine; push start aid button only when engine is cold and cranking. Start aid fluid is being injected into engine as long as you push the button.

2. Push start aid button (1) continuously to inject ether during engine cranking. Crank engine for 30 seconds maximum, and then allow 2 minutes between cranking periods.
