Draining Cooling System

Every 2 years, drain and flush cooling system using commercial products, and refill with new coolant. Replace thermostats.

causym CAUTION: Prevent possible injury from hot spraying water. DO NOT remove radiator cap until engine is cool. Then loosen cap slowly to the stop. Release all pressure before removing cap.

1. Slowly turn cap to the stop to release air to relieve pressure. Remove radiator cap.

2. On machines with 170 hp engine, disconnect hose from recovery tank to drain tank. Allow coolant to drain into a container. Dispose of used coolant properly.

3. Remove hose (1). Open valve (2).

4. Allow coolant to drain into a container. Dispose of used coolant properly.

5. Remove side shield (A) to access radiator drain valve.

6. Attach a hose to radiator drain valve (B).

7. Turn radiator drain valve counterclockwise to open valve. Allow coolant to drain into a container. Dispose of used coolant properly.

8. Check coolant hoses for cracks or leaks. Replace if necessary.

9. Tighten clamps.

10. Check radiator and oil cooler for dirt, damage, leaks, and loose or broken mountings. Clean radiator fins.

11. Flush system using commercial products.

12. Install drain valve and hose. Install shield.
